Founded in 1949, Signcraft is one of Auckland's original signage companies. Started in the shadow of World War II and the great depression by three tradesmen who wanted to emphasize the 'craft' aspect of the trade. Since then there has been many changes in the signage industry and Signcraft has evolved through them all. They have solid relationships with clients in the business community, some that go back multiple decades.
Their staff currently has over 60 years collective experience in the industry, they are adept at modern signage techniques as well as being one of the few remaining sign companies who are able to offer traditional style “brush work” hand lettering and sign writing.
Signcraft aspires to retain the personal touch, taking time to understand the clients needs and establishing expectations around the process, project completion and timing.
While Signcraft could claim to be a ‘one stop shop’, their team is strong on install ability and problem solving which means they are perhaps strongest on exterior building signage and interior commercial fit-outs, which is now where the company prefers to focus. Signcraft has shifted a handful of times over the years but has always been around the Grey Lynn area and today occupies a 500m2 premises in Putiki Street. They are well located to serve central Auckland, but also have customers from Pukekohe to the Hibiscus Coast and even nationwide which they service with the help of their freight partners and network of contract installers.
In June 2017 Signcraft underwent new management, with Benjamin Hartnett taking over as Managing Director. He retained the staff and has brought fresh energy into the company. They have since upgraded their machinery and capabilities. See the gallery for some of their most recent projects!
